Christina's story

Christina was a member of the WA Pony Club Team with Geoff Harley, Richard Sands and Fiona John when Australia hosted the Inter Pacific Pony Club competition in Melbourne.

​

She instructed and worked at home at Springfield Riding school and then managed Broadacres Riding School with her mother Rachel Pardoe, instructed privately and at Pony Club, trained and worked at British Olympic Dressage coach Robert Hall’s Fulmer School of Equitation and sat the BHSAI teaching exam. Attended Australian Olympic Coach Franz Maringer schools when he came to Perth and also trained with Art Uytendaal.

She was at Springfield when it won the Corot Trophy for the most points in ring events at the Perth Royal Show.

Competitively Christina has set two state records with “Countryman” in the Puissance Show Jumping competition, Rode Perth Royal Show Supreme Champion Hack “South Pacific”, whom she sold to Tasmania was Champion Open Rider, Champion Show Jumping Rider and won the Emily Pelloe Turnout three times. The Countryman Cup is still held every year at the Perth Royal Show.

Christina has held NCAS, BHSAI Pony Club, AUSTSWIM and RDA (current) teaching qualifications, a WA Turf Club Trainers Licence and has membership of the Daydawn Aboriginal Advocacy and the Midland St Vincent de Paul Soc. (former Chair).

Christina Slater is a Director of the D’Arcy Slater Foundation dedicated to Education, Sport and Leadership in young people.

As a member of the WAHC for over 12 years Christina has been very involved in the Large Animal Rescue Seminars having part sponsored the Mannequin Horse – LARry, assists at the NRM field days in which the council took an active part and represents the Welfare and Membership Portfolio’s.
